Compound Terms of Use
Effective date: September 22, 2026
Developer: Taylor Brown (individual developer), Quebec, Canada
Contact: compound.progress.support@gmail.com
These terms are an agreement between you and Taylor Brown ("we", "us") for the use of the Compound mobile app. By installing or using Compound, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
If you got Compound from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where these terms and Apple's agreement conflict, Apple's agreement controls for the App Store. Apple isn't responsible for the app or for support; that's us.
1. What Compound is
Compound helps you take one progress photo a day and see how you change over time. It's a personal tool. It's not a medical device, a health service, or a substitute for professional advice.
2. Your license
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use Compound on devices you own or control, for your own personal use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the app, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms.
3. Your content is yours
The photos you take with Compound belong to you. We don't receive them, claim any rights to them, or use them for anything. They stay on your device (see the Privacy Policy). You're responsible for what you do with them, including what you share and with whom.
4. Not medical advice
Compound shows photos. It doesn't measure, diagnose, or assess your health, body composition, or fitness, and nothing in the app is medical, nutritional, or fitness advice. Before starting or changing a diet, exercise program, or medication, talk to a qualified professional. If you have or suspect a condition affecting your relationship with food, exercise, or your body image, please seek help; the app isn't designed for that and may not be suitable.
5. Acceptable use
Use Compound only for photos of yourself (or of someone who has clearly agreed to it). Don't use it to photograph others without consent, to create or share sexual content, or in any way that breaks the law or these terms.
6. Your responsibilities
- Keep your device secure. Anyone with access to your unlocked phone can see your photos unless you turn on the app's Face ID / fingerprint lock.
- Back up your data. Compound stores everything on your device only. If the device is lost, reset, or the app is uninstalled, the photos are gone unless you exported or backed them up. Settings → Export Photos is there for this.
7. Updates and changes
We may update the app, change or remove features, or stop distributing it at any time. We'll aim to keep your existing data usable across updates, but we can't promise a future version will support every feature.
8. No warranty
Compound is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, and we don't warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it (currently nothing).
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law in Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, or wherever you live, that can't be waived by contract.
10. Termination
You can stop using Compound at any time by deleting it. We may terminate your license if you materially breach these terms. Sections 3, 4, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes will be brought in the courts of Quebec, unless the law where you live gives you the right to a different forum.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, note it in the app's update notes. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
